How can I convert sheet music into a midi file?

I see lots of tutorials on how to convert sheet music to midi files, but what about the reverse? What’s the best method – preferably with free software.

Take a look at the website of Myriad software. http://www.myriad-online.com

They have splendid software for you.
I use Harmony assistant, for writing of different instrument parts (violin, clarinet, harp, piano and accordian) , it’s also good for different kind of choirs ( barbershop, gregorian, etc.).
