What is the value of my Picasso drawing?
I recently purchased an original drawing that is signed by Picasso and am wanting to know a few things about it. The drawing came with a certificate of authenticity from a gallery. Is the certificate of authenticity enough to certify that it is a genuine Picasso drawing? With just this COA, what would the value of the drawing be? Would it still be worth alot or worth not much as there is only a COA and Picasso’s signature? It is about 30cm by 20cm and done in crayon and pencil. How much evidence is needed to prove the drawing is Pablo Picasso’s and how does the amount of proof affect its value.
I also have another drawing by a famous artist but this one comes with provenance and a COA. Is provenance and a COA enough proof to prove it is genuine or is even more proof needed. Thanks for any help.
Basically…you need to take it to an art dealer…no one can give you an answer over the net without actually seeing the drawing in person…
But to answer part of your many questions….
No…a certificate from a gallery is usually not enough to prove it is authentic. I hate to say this, but some galleries lie.
You need to take it to an Art Appraiser, not a gallery…the appraisal is the proof of authenticity that you need…some times COA’s can be used depending on the reputation of a REPUTABLE gallery…but the appraisal is the defining proof.
