The movie is 7/4 with Paddy Power to be nominated for Best Picture at next year’s Academy Awards and just 6/1 to win Best Picture.
Anyhow with the runaway success of This Is It at worldwide cinemas, he could be in line for the chance to win a posthumous Oscar. To qualify for the Oscars, the film must complete a seven-day run in Los Angeles County and filmmakers would need to submit the proper paperwork but there’s a lot of buzz around the movie particularly after smashing the worldwide box office. Paddy Power are also quoting 9/4 that “This Is It”, directed by Kenny Ortega, will be nominated for a Golden Globe Award and 8/1 that it wins the Globe for Best Picture in 2010.
The odds on Michael himself winning a posthumous Oscar from the grave are 25/1. Sharon McHugh, spokesperson for Paddy Power said: “According to Oscar boffins, “This Is It” received a fantastic reception at the academy screening in LA on Sunday and there are now lots of whispers that it will be this year’s Oscar banker!”
